Which innovation has changed your life?
Although main overhead lights are useful when I need to see clearly and keep an overview, the invention of ambient lightingβlike flameless candles and warm reading lightsβgives me an extra soothingπ nudge.
What makes you unique?
My worldview shaped by the fluid dynamics below:
(Most, if not all, people have a unique worldview, so how unique am I really? π§ π)
Because my winter version looks different from my summer version, Iβm learning to base my identity, my sense of belonging, and my connection to others on something deeper than appearance alone.
When it comes to romantic connections, at times Iβve noticed that I donβt fit neatly into one visual type, which has made me curious about the different ways appearance can shape attraction and connection. I might be someoneβs type in the summer and less their type in the winter, or experience the opposite dynamic.
So when someone loves my essence, and both versions of me, I love them a little more for thatβ£οΈ When it comes to belonging to a group, Iβm learning to feel deeply connected to people who look completely different from me, because I know how fluid the outside can be.
My appearance* adapts to the changing seasons and context. In the summer, my skin is deep and warm, while winter brings out a neutral, cooler, and brighter tone. Although biologically I have one eye color, optically it shifts depending on the lighting, the weather, my emotions, and what I’m wearing.
*Instead of trying to force a single shade all yearβas I used to do by darkening my winter skin with a spray tan or lightening my summer skin with brightening creamsβIβm learning step-by-step to welcome (and more recently, accentuate) this fluid dynamic. So, I might flip it around and let the sun kissπ my skin more in the summer, while leaning into its brightness in the winter.
In what way have you grown over the past year?
Thanks to careful professional help, self-care at home, and gradually stepping out of isolation through corrective experiences outside, I feel less toxic shameβa result of a less active toxic parent mode. I’ve grown in that area.
How do you express your creativity?
Movementβespecially dancingβis my main outlet, but cooking motivates me through flavor, scent, and nourishment. As I shake off the toxic shame around it (and find ways to do fewer dishesπ), I’m gradually finding the energyπ to get creative in the kitchen.
