The layover in Arubaβjust one day and nightβwhere I dared to explore beyond the hotel. I felt a sense of safety in finding a place to eat, then sitting by the beach, taking in the view. The entire trip had been taken care of by my mother, who expected my returnβand that gave me space to simply be.
Thatβs why group trips appeal to me: they offer a similar sense of security. Theyβre often fully arranged, from door to door. So who knowsβmaybe one day, Iβll have the courage to try that.
Now that Iβm prioritizing soothing myself at homeβwith more sleep, more baths, and childhood-friendly nourishing mealsβIβm beginning to consider step-by-step exploration outside. Just like in Aruba, I felt free and calm, and I want to create that same feeling here. Iβm working on making a habit of going to the sea once a week, even if itβs just for an hourβofflineβto breathe deeply and let the wind clear my mind.
I started this year by switching my screens to grayscale, and I still do that regularly. Itβs brought me a bit closer to my emotions.
Although the grip of the online world is there, Iβm step-by-step adding in more offline moments where I can. This online-to-offline pace feels most realistic for me.
Even though feeling safe and secure outside depends on more than just me, if it were only up to me, Iβd aim to enjoy the sea once a week.
