Deeply flawed

Agreeable

Eating for my delight! Instead of filling a void due to a lack of deep meaningful connections, the need to belong to groups, and go on adventures. I find it quite fulfilling to establish a healthier connection with the food, the environment, the people, and the time of year. This way of eating brings me more satisfaction. I’ve noticed that my relationship with food has been improving step by step.

Here are some ideas I want to incorporate more to enhance my connection with food:

1. Indulging in the pure joy of holiday feasts and delicacies, like chocolate(Valentines day).

2. Exploring traditional treats and dishes from the country I live in like stampot or visit, like glazed apples, waffles etc.

3. Savoring flavors(😳🍫) with a special someone, like a chocolate fondue.

4. Enjoying seasonal vegetables and fruits to harmonize with the rhythms of time and nature. Like this time of the year a traditional, seasonal and a favorite Dutch dish called stampot (seasonal: with kale).

5. Communal dining, to connect with the city I live in or visit.

6. Antillean creole dishes, to connect with great childhood memories, my parents and my place of birth.

7. Delicacies to accompany fun activities or time of the year. Like popcorn at the movie theater, ice popsicles in the summer and, cotton candy at the fair.

Oh, and about that birthday cake! I have difficulty eating when I feel pressured or forced to eat or put something in my body; I enjoy it less on a sensory level, and I’m less mindful of the flavors, colors, and texture, etc. What a waste of a great birthday cake! A birthday cake deserves to be savored! I have the ULTIMATE solution: a doggy bag! I vow🫑 to always carry one around at work. When someone offers their delicious cake, I can finally say YES and then take it home with me, put it in the fridge, and eat it when I feel more calm.
