More at home

Soothed by my teddy bear, the warm water that cradles me perfectly, and childhood-friendly home-cooked meals, I reflect on the idea of crafting a home library. Although it won’t be my dream home library right now (in this house), being surrounded by people in the form of their stories may create a warmer feel in my home. Perhaps there’s a book I can display – a first step towards a room enveloped in books, replacing my curtains. This replacement a cocoon of warmth, free from unnecessary external distractions.

Right now I already collect things like empty boxes and half-empty jars, because I might use them someday. Meanwhile they take up space and I barely use them. I could use the same space to display stories to foster a deeper connection and create more warmth at home.

My next small step is to place ‘War and Peace’ by the window.

A step towards my prayer room for more warmth at home, might be cleaning my closet and to put my prayer list (list of 100 names I pray for monthly, 5 names per day, this month for their safety needs) with one electronic candle I own.

A little step before this step might be putting the list and the candle next to the closet.

Being surrounded by people – while I do my own thing – may create more warmth. That’s why I consider living in the centre.
