Gifts

I felt valued and seen when my father gave me thoughtful gifts that supported my hobbies and passions, some of which I didn’t even know I wanted. He had an ability to understand my preferences better than I did, and that insight brought joy to him, knowing me so deeply.

Quality time

Similarly, I cherished the quality time spent with my father, whether walking through nature, sitting at the beach or at home. These moments were enriched with his knowledge and wisdom, creating deep conversations that revolved around him imparting valuable lessons. It was in these instances that I truly felt valued and seen.

Physical touch

Additionally, I felt valued and seen when he hugged me or when we danced together at home. These moments made me feel safe, appreciated, and truly seen.

Act of service

I felt valued and seen when my mother made my favorite dishes and observed how much I enjoyed them.

Affirm

I felt valued and seen when, through therapy, I learned words that made me feel valued and seen, which I can now repeat to myself.

I’ve noticed that the more I feel seen, the easier it is for me to draw someone’s eyes.
