Now I remember why I protected my meeker side with a rebel cocky side. My smile at the world gets interpreted more often as an invitation*, even when I’m on my bike, late and in the dark on my way back home from ballet class. He rode his bike on the other side of the road, saw me, and turned around to ride beside me. He gave me a compliment and asked a few questions. Thankfully, he stopped chasing me after I showed him my backbone🦴 more clearly.

*And yes, that’s why I feel scared to wear brighter colours. Because those colours like pastel pink or yellow will probably make me smile more.
